Aside from snapping a few photos on my phone & checking in with text messages once a day to make sure everything was well on the home front, technology was put on hold for a week. We had leisure mornings, full days at the beach/pool and stayed in our swim suits until Happy Hour! It was a time to be mindful of the beauty of the beach & a time to "just be" present!

Carry on Bag: Phone, wallet(ids & cash), book, music playlist/ podcasts, journal, essential oil rollers, gum/mints, lipgloss, hand lotion. *When traveling with kids...always, have a change of clothes & wipes/tissues, believe me you'll be glad!

"Just Be" Prepared

​Packing Map*: The chart pictured here is my "packing map*" Every time I travel I create one of these maps. It lists the travel destination, dates of travel, expected weather, anticipated activities & items needed. I also list a basic timeline of things that need to be done before hitting the road. I always turn packing into a little game, challenging myself to only take what I feel like I will NEED. I typically don't bring anything fancy(unless needed) & really just focus on the basics. At the end of the journey, I look to see what wasn't worn or used. I strive to wear/use everything that I bring.

"Just Be" Patient

Air travel can be unpredictable in so many different ways, "just be" patient! We had a smooth journey to the airport, checked in our bags* & boarded our plane with no issue.  It was hot outside, it was hot on the plane & then we heard the news, the air conditioning on the plane was not working properly & we'd need to deplane until they got the issue resolved. Ugh! Instead of freaking out about it, we patiently waited in the boarding area. Not but 20 minutes later, we were able to get back on the plane & take off! Our arrival in Charleston was a little later than expected, but we got there just in time to grab some pizza for dinner & then hit the hay dreaming of our week ahead at the beach!
*Minor packing snafu, I have managed to hit the 50lb sweet spot up until this trip. I always pack one big suitcase with my stuff & stuff for my two kids. I have always managed to weigh in right on the 50lb nose. This time I missed the mark by 6lbs. Luckily, they let it slide on the way there & on the way home when it hit at 3lbs over. The kids are finally getting to the age where they will soon be able to roll their own suitcase & I will not longer need to worry about this issue #momlife!

If you have followed along with me at all, you know how much I adore Gretchen Rubin. I have read all of her "happiness" books & religiously listen to her Happier podcast. So, it goes without saying, that I picked up her current book to read at the beach...and I also found time to listen the weekly podcast as well.

I tested out Pacifica products.  I absolutely loved the Blood orange mineral sunscreen. It worked very well & smelled amazing. I also grabbed the coconut sunscreen for my lips. The coconut glow bronzing spray was interesting. The mechanics of the spray worked very well. Just be careful not to put it on inside or with a light colored bathing suit. And whatever you do, don't let young kids get their hands on it...learned the hard way on that one!
