It’s March, “my” March. It’s my birthday month & what better time to set some goals for the next year of life. Anyone else not really into New Year’s resolutions? Well, then consider thinking about your birthday month as the starting of a “new” year, creating a “new” you. I like to start the new year of my life with a little spa treatment. My hair appointment is made for a cut & a little pop of color. Manicure and pedicure is on the books and hoping to sneak in a massage & facial as well. In March, I also like to take inventory & make good use of what I already have. Often times I have great, useful things just sitting around my house collecting dust. So, what better time than now to start using them. I have an electric toothbrush that often times just sits on the charger looking at me saying, “use me, I do such a better job than your manual toothbrush.” So, I have started making good use of my electric, more efficient toothbrush. My dentist has already noted the difference! Same thing goes for my electric facial brush. It was sadly just sitting in my drawer, I took it out started using it and have noticed such a difference in my skin. With minimal effort, I have made lots of progress towards the “new” and improved me with many of my formerly unused tools. I also like to think not only about how I can make “me” physically better, but how I can make this new year easier on myself as well. So, I focus on things that I can make “automatic” I am a horrible clothing shopper. Back in the day I enjoyed it, but with such a busy schedule, it is one task that I view as a hassle. So, I make it automatic. Stitch Fix has definitely helped with this. I have my account set so I receive a quarterly/seasonal box of clothes. My stylist knows me well and usually gets it just right and boom I have a few new pieces that I can mix and match with my old pieces to create a fresh, fun wardrobe. I have also set up a Blue Apron account to make a few meals a week automatic. Meal time is not my forte so I have enlisted some help. My family is good about fending for themselves or eating simple meals for breakfast and lunch, but dinner always entails some thought. Blue Apron is super helpful with giving me 3 dinners a week that I don’t have to think about or shop for and require minimal preparation. There are many other services similar to Blue Apron. I may just test others out as well to see how they compare. Finally, mapping goals out really helps me to actually follow through on them. I am the type that loves checking things off of a list, so a visible map that I can check things off really works for me. My monthly map helps me to make appointments such as annual doctors visits, make social plans and to set a fitness plan & stick to it. I simply staple a calendar onto a file folder(one for each month). This way I have the previous years calendar behind & a folder to hold important papers for the month. So, there you have it, "my" March. It gives each new year of my life a fresh start. I love that it aligns with spring too. It is a spring cleaning on so many levels.
