Wanderlust 108 in San Francisco was an amazing way to culminate my 6 month, 200 hour yoga teacher training program. Yoga by definition means, "to unite" and a united group this truly was. We looked each other in the eye, we held each other up and flowed together as one. It was an amazing vibe that I will forever be grateful for having been a part of. From the time that I was 18, I knew that there was a love of yoga deep down inside me. It took many years and a variety of experiences to find the confidence to take it to a higher level. Through in depth studies of the foundations of yoga, I now feel a burst of joy whenever I can share my academic and/or physical knowledge of yoga. It is such a cool, almost out of body, feeling. It gets me up in the morning, helps me find peace in my day and ultimately puts me to sleep at night. With so many different styles of yoga, I truly believe that there is a style for everyone. Don't get too caught up in perfect poses and simply find what feels good for you. The asanas(poses) are a pathway to meditation. Many people have lost sight of this purpose. It is my hope to spread the good word of meditation/mindfulness. One can help to alleviate stress and anxiety by being present. You can't change the past and the future is unpredictable. Just being present is powerful. Don't get consumed by your thoughts because they are just that, thoughts. "There is nothing either good or bad, but thinking makes it so" Hamlet.
I invite you to practice yoga to its fullest. Don't skip meditation. Find a meditation style that works for you. Like the physical practice of yoga, there are many different styles of meditation too. If you give yoga & meditation a chance, I feel confident that you will create positive pathways in your brain that will change your outlook on life. Namaste.
